Thank you and See You Again Next Year!

It's been over a week after Urbanscapes 2011 at Padang Astaka and we are still recovering from the excitement.

This year, Urbanscapes saw about 14,000 attendees at Padang Astaka! It is our biggest Urbanscapes to date!

We want to thank all our partners, all the performing acts, all the vendors and all the crew for their relentless effort to make sure everything ran smoothly and for making the event such a success.

And we want to thank all of you for coming and for braving the hot sun and the slight muddy field.

We hope you had a blast, cause we certainly did and we hope to see you guys again next year!

Adios!

Urbanscapes Official Last-minute Survival Tips

Alright! It is less than 24 hours to Urbanscapes, so what better time than to come up with a list of things to keep in mind before, during and after our city's most fun festival!

- Hitch a ride

While there might be loads of parking spots at Armada Hotel and Amcorp Mall, it still doesn't hurt to car pool or take public transportation (the Asia Jaya LRT station is just a 5 min walk away). Or maybe you could squeeze some exercise into it by cycling to Urbanscapes. The world thanks you.

- What's your colour?

Urbanscapes is an all-ages festival but there are certain areas of the site which is restricted only to those who are 18 and above. To avoid confusion within the festival grounds, we will card everyone at the entrance and assign the right wristband colour respectively. Orange for those 18 and above, and blue for those below. Those with black wristbands are performers, so feel free to mob them if you like.

- Make sure to bring enough cash

The closest ATM machines are at Amcorp mall, which is a 5-10 min walk away. So if you don't want to trek out of the festival site every time you run out of money shopping, drinking or eating, do bring enough cash with you (and preferably in small denominations, vendors will thank you for it). But with cash, comes responsibility, so do make sure to keep your possessions safe with you at all times.

- It is an all-day, rain or shine event

While we don't expect Glastonbury-type conditions (we're in a field in PJ, after all!), weather can still be unpredictable. And since the show will go on, rain or shine, it is best to come prepared with both sunblock and a poncho if you can. And dress comfortably!

- Keeping your phones full of juice

The days of phones lasting for weeks on a single charge are long gone. You'll be lucky if your phone lasts for more than half a day with all that tweeting, picture-taking, texting and if you still do this, talking you'll be doing at Urbanscapes. Thankfully, there will be charging stations at Urbanscapes, all thanks to the awesome folks at the TM presents EveryoneConnects zone. Head to get power-up!

- So many things going on, where's the guide?

In our efforts to minimise wastage and to limit the amount of printed materials at Urbanscapes, we won't be printing any personal guides this year. Detailed schedules and maps are available on this web site and around various parts of the festival site. Alternatively, you can always look up the mobile guide provided by the nice folks at whatsup.my at http://urbanscapes.whatsup.my/

- Smile loads!

Part of the fun, and what makes Urbanscapes great, is the friendly vibe all around, and how comfortable everyone is in turning strangers into friends. So don't spoil the mood by wearing anything other than a smile. Having your first date at Urbanscapes is also highly encouraged.

- Keep yourself well-fed and hydrated

Amid all the fun, don't forget to allocate some time towards food and drink to keep you going. Of all places, you wouldn't want to be a casualty in a padang in Petaling Jaya.

- The only thing you should be shooting with is with your camera

Feel free to come with whatever camera you like and snap away, but please leave all weapons, pointy objects and other hazardous items at home, or wherever you found them.

- Everyone loves people who clean after themselves

There are trash bins all around the festival grounds. Do everyone a favour and make sure that, that is the only place where your trash ends up. No one likes a messy and dirty park, least of all MBPJ, who have generously let us use the venue, so please show our appreciation by doing our part.

- Create and keep lots of memories

Check out the two cool new apps launching at Urbanscapes. Style Snaps (stylesnap.it), to help you snap, share and keep track of all those stylish festival-goers (including yourself). And Gigorama (gigorama.net), your live music companion to capture all the best festival sets and to relive it all over again after the festival

Now go have 12 continuous hours of fun!
